BUILDING A NEW DOWNTOWN EAST. East Harbour is Canada’s largest master-planned commercial development. Consisting of approximately 62 acres just east of Toronto’s downtown core, the master plan envisions intensifying and redeveloping the existing industrial lands into a vibrant new district.

Starting with 10 million square feet of commercial space approved on 38 acres, East Harbour will incorporate a range of uses, responding to the diverse and dynamic needs of people and the changing nature of work, while creating new space for approximately 70,000 jobs. It will leverage the best of the city’s diversity, creativity and talent and create a new place for the city to grow.

The ambitious commercial district will feature a new multi-modal transit hub just three kilometres and one future transit stop from Union Station, and offer new connections, open spaces and public art features for the surrounding neighbourhoods and the city.

Construction will begin with the adaptive reuse of an existing industrial building, transforming it into the Soap Factory, a 600,000 square-foot landmark office building with space for dynamic retail and restaurant uses and an employment incubator.

East Harbour is set to become an animated, resilient, cultural and people-focused destination, creating a new place where Toronto works.
