The temperature may have dropped this week, but the mood in Mississauga was quite warm as First Gulf kicked off their latest industrial project – a new Distribution Centre for BMW! Located at Ninth Line and Argentia Road, right around the corner from the Lisgar GO Station, the ceremony was easy to spot, with the BMW brand (and some of their latest models) proudly displayed. First Gulf CEO David Gerofsky was joined on stage by Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillor Pat Saito (Ward 9), and BMW Group Canada President and CEO Hans Blesse, each of whom expressed excitement for the completion of this project.
“Mississauga is delighted to welcome BMW’s new distribution facility to our city,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “As a world-renowned auto maker and innovator, we know BMW will bring good jobs to our community and strengthen our city’s profile as a destination for business. I’m pleased that we are able to offer what companies like BMW are looking for – access to transit routes, unparalleled logistics infrastructure, as well as an unrivaled quality of life and a highly educated workforce. We look forward to working with BMW in the years to come to expand their footprint and the support the success of their business.”
This is the latest in a long line of critical developments that First Gulf has completed in the Meadowvale area and, in keeping with First Gulf’s commitment to transit-oriented development, is located just around the corner from the Lisgar GO Station. Once complete, this new, 285,000 sf Regional Distribution Centre will provide an ideal, central location for BMW’s inbound and outbound logistics, as well as a facility that’s 50% larger than their current Eastern Parts Distribution Warehouse in Whitby.
Congratulations to the First Gulf Development and Construction teams – can’t wait to see the finished building! For more information, including renderings of the project, visit the Project Page.
