First Gulf CEO David Gerofsky recently spoke to CBC News to discuss the strategic impetus for East Harbour – Toronto’s exciting, 60-acre planned development just east of the downtown core. Positioned to become a pivotal employment and business hub, East Harbour will boast 10-million square feet of office space, able to accommodate more than 50,000 workers. Key to East Harbour is a multi-modal transit hub, connecting it to the rest of the city with convenient transportation options. The development will also feature 2 million square feet of retail and a wide variety of entertainment, art and cultural spaces.

On February 23rd, a step on the path toward this groundbreaking vision for the future of Toronto was reached, with the city’s planning and growth management committee approving city staff’s recommendations on how to move forward with processing First Gulf’s rezoning application and to initiate a public consultation process. The committee's vote also approved initiating an environmental assessment on flood protection.

Located on a 60-acre site at the DVP and Lakeshore Boulevard, East Harbour is the largest commercial project currently planned in Canada. Construction of the project is anticipated to commence in 2018, with the first phase completed by 2023.
